Understand the workings of the IndexedDB API, its capabilities and wrappers required on top of it to make it a lot more useful for web applications. Trying to answer why IndexedDB is so verbose or does not have querying capabilities. Will features from Javascript 1.8 change its course?

The IndexedDB API started as an alternative to the WebSQLDB API that brought together Microsoft and Mozilla. Reading through its mailing lists gives an interesting insight into how and why the API is the way it is. The talk would touch upon the capabilities that were added, features that were removed and deferred to Javascript Libraries. Wrappers like a Jquery Plugin, Promises/Futures fro callbacks, etc. would also make an interesting discussion.
